Exciting Updates on Our Primary School Curriculum!
We are thrilled to share the latest developments in our primary school's educational journey! Our inquiry-based curriculum, inspired by the IB PYP (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme) and guided by the "Learner Profile" and "ATL (Approaches to Learning) Skills", has introduced theme-based inquiry activities across different year groups. These engaging activities are designed to help our pupils unlock knowledge, develop skills, and become active participants in their learning as bright young learners.
Grade 1: The Adventure of "Campus Detectives" Reveals "How We Organise Ourselves"
Grade 1 pupils have embarked on an exciting "campus exploration journey" focusing on understanding "How We Organise Ourselves". Through creative group work as "little campus detectives", they have mapped out our school, interacted with staff members, and practised polite communication skills. By immersing themselves in role-playing scenarios and collaborative tasks, they are not only learning about campus life but also honing essential social and research skills. As they grow, they are becoming caring and principled individuals who value teamwork and effective communication.
Grades 2 & 3: Delving into the "Body Universe" and Exploring "Power and Responsibility"
In Grade 2, pupils are exploring the fascinating world of the human body under the theme "Who We Are". Through hands-on activities like listening to heartbeats and creative plays, they are gaining insights into organ functions and health habits. They are also reflecting on their own well-being and enhancing their problem-solving and self-management skills.
Meanwhile, Grade 3 pupils are diving into the concepts of "power and responsibility" through engaging class activities centred around "class management". Through lively discussions and decision-making processes, they are evolving into confident and socially adept individuals who value accountability and open-mindedness.
Grades 4 & 5: Embracing Artistic Expression in "How We Express Ourselves"
Grades 4 and 5 are on an artistic journey, exploring self-expression under the theme "How We Express Ourselves". From visiting art exhibitions to creating their own masterpieces, pupils are expanding their creative horizons and communication skills. By appreciating diverse art forms, sharing creative visions, and engaging in collaborative projects, they are evolving into articulate communicators and innovative thinkers.
Our curriculum is designed to put our pupils at the centre of their learning, blending knowledge acquisition with skill development. As we continue to enhance our PYP curriculum, we aim to nurture in our pupils a lifelong passion for learning and a global perspective. Thank you for being part of our school community and supporting our pupils on their exciting educational journey!
