In alignment with the IBPYP curriculum's emphasis on taking action through exploration, students from Fettes College Guangzhou ventured beyond campus confines into the real - world social environment. Focusing on the theme of "Sharing the Planet," they embarked on an extraordinary journey of exploring nature and reflecting on life at Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou.

During the activity, the students boarded the small train, which took them through habitats of ferocious beasts. By closely observing the living habits of wild animals such as lions and tigers, they directly experienced the wildness and vitality of nature. From the cable cars, they overlooked the park, witnessing the vast grasslands, winding rivers, and the animals inhabiting them, forming a harmonious ecological picture. This stunning visual experience deepened their understanding of the integrity of the Earth's ecosystem. In the 4D cinema, advanced audio - visual effects and realistic environmental simulations vividly recreated the survival wisdom of animals in nature. As if being in the real scene, the students deeply realised the significance of each species within the ecological chain.

Entering the panda and koala pavilions, the adorable giant pandas and cute koalas immediately captured the students' attention. Through the rich science and nature TV displays in the pavilions, they learned in detail about the living habits, current survival status, and protection challenges of these rare animals, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of biodiversity. During the white tiger show in the white tiger pavilion, the tacit interaction between the trainers and white tigers not only presented a wonderful visual feast but also vividly illustrated the beautiful vision of harmonious coexistence between humans and animals, conveying the profound connotation of "all things coexisting."

This trip to Chimelong Safari Park was centered around the sequence of "observation - cognition - empathy - action," integrating the concept of "Sharing the Planet" from the IB curriculum into every aspect of the visit. Through immersive natural exploration, the students transformed from mere onlookers into active practitioners of ecological protection. This social practice activity has ignited their initial aspiration to safeguard the Earth and share nature, inspiring them to contribute to building a beautiful homeland where humans and nature coexist in harmony.
