To nurture an early appreciation for art, we launched a multi-week artist exploration project in our EY class. The goal is to introduce children to great artists, help them explore different styles, and encourage them to create their own works of art—building their aesthetic awareness and creative confidence along the way.
The children have been introduced to four remarkable artists: Frida Kahlo, Monet, Mondrian, and Van Gogh. Through observation and discussion, they've learnt about each painter’s unique style—from Frida’s emotional self-portraits and Monet’s impressionistic water lilies, to Mondrian’s bold primary colour blocks and Van Gogh’s vibrant, textured sunflowers.
Inspired by these masters, each child chose a favourite artist and created their own interpretation. Their artwork is now displayed in our classroom art area, slowly forming our very own “Class Art Gallery.” We believe this ongoing, collective project will not only help children grow through artistic exposure but also fill them with genuine pride in what they have created together.
