Since the beginning of the new semester, our school's music education sector has shown a vibrant and thriving momentum. We are delighted to observe that students are displaying an increasing enthusiasm and talent in string instrument learning, ensemble performances, and musical presentations.
A New Beginning for Strings: Instrumental Electives for Grades 6-8
This semester, we have introduced a new instrumental elective course for Grades 6-8, "Journey of Instruments and Ensemble." The course provides a comprehensive approach to violin or cello training, incorporating technique practice, repertoire learning, and ensemble training, aiming to improve students' playing skills, musical expression, and teamwork abilities.
Technical Foundation: After more than three months of foundational practice, students have mastered essential aspects such as posture, finger placement, rhythm, and tone control, laying a strong foundation for advanced learning.
-
Repertoire Expansion: The course includes a mix of classical and popular pieces, such as "Game of Thrones," "Jingle Bells," "Ode to Joy," and "Descendants of the Dragon," which enhance students’ motivation and musical literacy.
-
Ensemble Experience: Starting with unison playing, the course gradually progresses to duets, chamber music, and other small group formats, helping students cultivate teamwork and stage presence.
Strings Break Bliss - The Practice Rooms During Lunch
During lunchtime, the campus practice rooms have officially become the "Strings Break Bliss", where students can be seen practising with focus each day.
This space is not only a practice venue but also a place where students can enjoy music, refine their techniques, and fill in gaps in their skills. Many students voluntarily come here to either improve their fingerings alone or to try ensemble playing with their peers, enhancing their performance through the sound of the violin.
