EY|UOI - A Journey of Discovering "Price"

In the inquiry unit "How We Organize Ourselves," we embarked on an exploration centered on the theme of "products." The children made candles, braided bracelets, and designed hair clips, planning to host their own "flea market" at school.

As preparations progressed, a question arose: "How much should we sell our products for?"

To solve this problem, the children became "little reporters" on campus. They interviewed teachers with their handmade items, listening and recording everyone’s suggestions and acceptable price ranges.

Then, we stepped outside the school and visited the AEON supermarket. The children observed the price tags of similar products on the shelves, comparing materials, designs, and packaging!

In the classroom, everyone gathered and summarized the findings. Taking into account material costs, production time, and creative value, and after lively discussions and voting, they finally determined the price for each item.

Through this activity, the children learned methods of investigation, comparison, and statistics, and personally experienced the considerations and trade-offs behind pricing.

We look forward to seeing them confidently introduce their products and manage their stalls seriously at the upcoming flea market!
