MS | Community Project Exhibition

What is the Community Project?

The Community Project is like a beacon, focusing on community and service, encouraging students to engage in service action within the community. In this process, students proactively identify community issues or needs, utilise various disciplinary knowledge and interdisciplinary thinking, and independently design projects. Through continuous exploration, action, and reflection, students actively participate in service activities.


In this process, students not only deeply learn and master “Approaches to Learning (ATL)” skills such as self-management, collaboration, and presentation but also develop emotional skills such as focus, perseverance, emotional management, self-motivation, and adaptability. These emotional skills lay a solid foundation for their future growth.


On the afternoon of 11th May, all the teachers and students of the Middle School gathered together for the Community Project Exhibition, which was carefully planned and led by G8 students. This exhibition not only showcased the students' creativity and concern for the community but also served as a lively event for cultural exchange within the community.

Project I: Dream of Animé, Wings of Ideals

"Dream of Animé, Wings of Ideals" is a deep exploration of the world of animé. We collect and showcase classic animé characters from the 1980s to the present, characters that have not only witnessed the evolution of animé art but have also been companions to many individuals' personal growth. We encourage members of the community to understand and experience these characters through their unique perspectives, while also inspiring them to unleash their creativity and create their own animé characters. This project serves as a platform for expressing inner thoughts and emotions and as a place to derive positive energy. Let's embark on a journey in the world of animé and discover our own dreams and joy.

Project II: Fettes Creative Hub

The Fettes Creative Hub project aims to promote and advertise our school extensively through innovative cultural and creative products, attracting more exceptional students to join our community. We have carefully designed a wide variety of souvenirs, such as bags, notebooks, badges, etc., with each item infused with the distinctive elements and spiritual essence of our school. Through these unique and distinctive cultural and creative products, we aspire to enable more individuals to experience the allure and cultural significance of our school.

Project III: Project CareUnity - Empowering School's Hidden Heroes

The "Project CareUnity - Empowering School's Hidden Heroes" project is a special initiative to pay tribute to the dedicated janitorial heroes who work tirelessly behind our school. We recognise that each janitorial staff member is an essential force within our campus, using their own hands and sweat to create a clean and orderly learning environment for us. To express our respect and gratitude, we have self-taught and personally made cakes to give to them. We hope that these actions can convey our admiration and appreciation for them while also raising awareness among more people about their significance in our campus life.

Project IV: Mindful Dance - Love Sticky Notes and Venting Box  

"Mindful Dance - Love Sticky Notes and Venting Box" is a community project that integrates love and care, aiming to create a healthy, positive, and loving community environment through two sub-projects: "Love Sticky Notes" and "Venting Box." Love Sticky Notes encourage individuals to write blessings, gratitude, and expressions of love for others or themselves on colourful sticky notes, which are then posted in public areas to spread positivity. The Venting Box provides a safe and private space for people to write down and release their negative emotions and stress, offering them a means of release and relief. Through these two projects, we hope to foster emotional communication among community members, enhance community cohesion and warmth, and allow everyone's state of mind to dance with serenity.

Project Ⅴ: Whispering Aromatherapy: Healing the Soul

"Whispering Aromatherapy: Healing the Soul" is a project dedicated to helping people relax and unwind through the creation of handmade aromatherapy candles. We firmly believe in the healing power of unique fragrances, as they can soothe tense emotions, alleviate stress, and assist individuals in rediscovering inner calm and harmony. We have not only studied the art of carefully blending essential oils but have also personally crafted our own aromatherapy candles, allowing us to experience moments of tranquility detached from the busyness of everyday life. This project not only provides an opportunity for hands-on creativity but also serves as a journey of soul healing.



Project VI: The Fabric of Belonging -  Unveiling Our House Shirt

"The Fabric of Belonging: Unveiling Our House Shirt" is a project that combines creativity and fashion design. In this project showcase, we have arranged an engaging wishing activity aimed at collecting and expressing the desires and ideas of community members. Our goal is not only to create stylish garments but also to convey the dreams and aspirations of the community through these new designs of academic attire. By presenting these new designs, we hope to ignite a sense of belonging and pride among community members while infusing new vitality into the school's culture.



Unveiling Our House Shirt

Throughout this community design exploration journey, we have witnessed profound communication and collaboration between teachers and students. With their wealth of experience and expertise, our supervising teachers have guided students in deep exploration and practice of five essential learning skills: communication, self-management, social interaction, critical thinking, and research. Students have not only showcased remarkable creativity and enthusiasm but have also gained valuable experiences and growth through every discussion and hands-on activity.
