BTEC Art and Design students are learning the basic principles of fine art through various projects, focusing on drawing and painting. They are practicing the seven elements of design to improve their skills and creative development. The BTEC Art programme is an excellent course for students to enhance their abilities and creativity while preparing them for different fields of study. In today’s growing world, art-related professions are in high demand, and the BTEC programme offers a great opportunity for students to build a strong foundation and work towards mastering their chosen field.

In this oil painting CCA, students will practice the basics of colour mixing and work on large canvases. They will explore how landscapes change with different times of day and seasons, focusing on how colours shift with these changes. Additionally, students will learn about composition, which will help them understand perspective, balance, and the play of light and shadow. This hands-on experience will give them a clearer idea of how to create depth and atmosphere in their artwork, while refining their technical skills in oil painting.

Our BTEC fashion design students successfully completed their inaugural presentation reports in a vibrant atmosphere. The students independently selected the artists or designers they most admired, engaged in comprehensive research, and meticulously crafted PowerPoint presentations to effectively convey their findings. During the presentations, each student provided their peers with positive reinforcement and constructive feedback regarding their efforts.

For aspiring artists and designers, the ability to articulate creative ideas and concepts clearly and logically is an essential skill. Through this presentation activity, students not only refined their research capabilities but also significantly enhanced their English public speaking skills while learning how to design impactful PowerPoint presentations.

IGCSE students are developing their coursework based on topics they have chosen and are now working on the first draft of their final ideas. They are focusing on larger compositions and exploring all the possibilities that acrylic painting provides. This stage allows them to experiment with different techniques, colours, and styles while refining their main concepts. By working on these larger pieces, students can better understand how to use acrylic paint effectively and bring their ideas to life. This hands-on process helps them shape their final work, preparing them for the next steps in their coursework.

We are excited to share that our Art & Design G9 IGCSE students have been diligently crafting vibrant artwork in anticipation of the International Culture Festival, scheduled for Friday 25th October! This event provides a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore, celebrate, and showcase diverse cultures from around the globe.

The students have poured their creativity into pieces that reflect various cultural influences, utilising a blend of traditional and contemporary art techniques. From stunning paintings that celebrate cultural heritage to intricate drawings representing global unity, the artworks beautifully capture the essence of our diverse world.

In addition to showcasing their artistic talents, our students have engaged in thoughtful discussions about the significance of cultural appreciation and the importance of global citizenship. The exhibition will not only highlight their artistic skills but also foster an environment for dialogue and understanding among our school community.
