IELTS

In this semester's IELTS learning journey, the students have already gone through half of the semester, and their academic performance is improving. The hierarchical teaching has been playing an active role in the IELTS courses which skillfully adopts different teaching strategies according to the characteristics of different grades and classes, just like customising a ladder for each student to help them continuously progress on the path of IELTS.

Listening

First of all, in terms of listening training, students in G9 and G10 EAL classes mainly focus on the fill - in - the - blank part of section 1. The topics in this part mostly revolve around scenarios such as numbers, letters, renting houses, and activities, aiming to ensure that students do not lose marks when answering questions related to topics in daily - life scenarios. The situation of the children in the G10 ESL class is different. After completing the study of all the topics in section 1, they start to learn problem solving skills and answer prediction methods. At the same time, they also start to get in touch with some topics in section 2 and learn new question types. For students in G11 and G12, currently they are mainly conducting practice with complete sets of test papers. During this process, they identify and fill in the gaps, hoping to achieve ideal scores in the real exams at the end of the semester.

Reading

Secondly, for the G9 students, the IELTS reading course is based on real examination papers and adopts the group - teaching mode, focusing on discussing the problem - solving methods of filling - in - the - blank and true - or - false judgment questions. The G10 students have already started to learn the parallel reading method and the structural reading method. On this basis, they have begun to conduct training on question types such as summary, diagram and single - sentence filling. As for the G11 and G12 students, they have already started to conduct full - set - question training and make up for the deficiencies in individual question types.

Writing

In terms of writing, G9 students have completed the study of Task 1 static graph, covering both single-chart and multi-chart types. G10 EAL students, on the other hand, have focused more on dealing with grammar problems and writing pure and authentic long and complex sentences. Additionally, G10 and G11 ESL students have finished the writing of Task 2 argumentative essays, while G12 students have started training in writing opinion-based ones.

Speaking

Finally, the IELTS speaking course mainly focuses on the real-topic questions of the test, helping students gradually become familiar with the structure and answering skills of each part, thus effectively improving their oral expression ability. The teaching goal for G9 is mainly to help students respond quickly and naturally to common topics. Through topic training in daily life, students' fluency and self-confidence are cultivated, and basic communication ability is improved. For G10, students start in - depth training on how to make detailed descriptions around "people, places, events, objects", etc. Through summary and practice, students will learn the skills of expanding topics and structured expression to create long answers with substantial content and clear logic. For G11 and G12, the focus is to guide students to express their opinions and supporting arguments in an organized manner. Through the simulation of real-life scenarios and repeated practice, students will be strengthened in terms of thinking logic and language organisation, and the depth of expression will be improved.
