Making Popped Rice Candy in our Harvest Kitchen
In the Harvest Kitchen, we created delicious popped rice candy! Children learned how to mix ingredients, pop rice, and shape their sweet treats. This hands-on activity ignited culinary creativity and fostered teamwork as everyone patiently waited for their tasty delights to set. Each child left with a delightful treat to share!
Getting “Sciencey” with Witch's Brew Experiment
In this exciting experiment, children donned their lab coats and became junior scientists as we explored the magical world of chemistry with our Witch's Brew experiment. Using cool cauldrons, we mixed various safe ingredients to create colourful, bubbling concoctions. This hands-on activity sparked curiosity and enhanced our understanding of chemical reactions in a fun and interactive way.
Cutting and Drying Fruit and Vegetables Using Traditional Styles
We transported our senses to a simpler time as we cut and dried seasonal fruits and vegetables using traditional methods. Children learned about the importance of preserving food and the various techniques used throughout history. This event not only promoted healthy eating but also encouraged appreciation for nature’s harvest and the skills passed down through generations.
Exploring the Stages of Rice Growth by Making a
Layered Rice Bottle
Finally, the children discovered the fascinating journey of rice from seed to harvest. By making a layered rice bottle, they visually represented the different stages of rice growth. This activity enhanced their understanding of agriculture and the effort that goes into producing this essential staple, all while having fun with colours and textures!
As the day came to a close, parents joined in the festivities, bringing an extra layer of joy to our Autumn Day celebrations.
