G9.

This week, the Grade G9 chemistry class discussed the importance of chemical formulas in chemistry. We thought about the question, "Why do chemists use formulas?" Students learned how chemical formulas represent the composition of matter and how important they are for understanding chemical reactions. By working with a peer group, students helped each other to deepen their memory of chemical names and formulas.

Student‘s Work

For G10 students, this week we focused on alkanes and their unique properties, aiming to connect what students already know to the curriculum. We discussed in class the use of alkanes and their importance in everyday life. We developed a deeper understanding of alkane chemistry by helping students relate knowledge to life.

G11.

This week, Year 11 students have focused on "Rates of Chemical Reactions." Through lively classroom explanations and engaging experimental demonstrations, students delved into the impacts of temperature, concentration, and catalysts on reaction rates, gaining a foundational understanding of rate equations and their applications. By integrating theory with practice, the students not only expanded their knowledge but also ignited their passion and curiosity for exploring the mysteries of chemistry.

Student‘s Note

This week, Year 12 students have been deeply engaged in studying Chapter 25 of A-Level Chemistry – Benzene. In class, students have gained insights into the structure, properties of benzene, and the nomenclature rules when benzene connects with different functional groups, such as chlorobenzene and nitrobenzene. Through theoretical explanations and exercises, students have deepened their understanding of benzene-related knowledge, laying a solid foundation for further studies in organic chemistry.
