Reading

Books are portals to knowledge and imagination; however, not everyone may have access to this valuable treasure. Book donation can make a significant difference, both individually and socially. Donating books to the library makes an important contribution to our community, whether in supporting literacy or education. Libraries rely on the generosity of individuals, organisations and volunteers to expand their collections and provide diverse reading options. By donating a variety of books, you can help ensure that everyone in your community has access to books that both educate and entertain, fostering a love for reading in all.

This semester, we have provided a convenient and quick book donation platform for our students. Students simply need to bring their donated books to the school library, place them in the designated donation box, and fill out the basic book information on the nearby donation registration form. What types of books are suitable for donation? To help with this, we have also provided students with clear book donation guidelines.

The library only accepts clean books that have not been water-damaged, and are not moldy or marked or have any unpleasant odours as well as those in good condition that are suitable for middle and senior school literature and popular science. The library does not accept yearbooks, textbooks, study guides, printed books, damaged books, or outdated books. Additionally, the library reserves the right to make the final decision on the use and handling of donated items, and donated items may not be added to the library's collection and will not be returned.

To encourage students to participate in book donations, we not only invited grade 8 community design students to promote this special library donation event at a Monday assembly, but we also launched a reward system based on house points. For each book donated, students can earn two house points, and if the book is nearly new, they can receive an additional house point as a bonus.

So far, the library has received 17 donated books. We sincerely thank all the students who have participated by donating books! Your generosity and support not only enrich the library's collection but also bring knowledge and enjoyment to the entire community. Thank you for your contributions to the library. We also welcome teachers and parents to actively participate in creating a learning environment filled with a passion for reading. With your support, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the benefits and pleasures of reading.
