G6: Foundations of Citizenship and Legal Awareness

Our G6 students have begun a foundational journey into understanding their role and identity within a larger community. They have explored the concept of citizenship, examining what it means to hold Chinese nationality and an ID card, fostering a mature sense of national pride. The curriculum has introduced their fundamental rights and responsibilities, helping them appreciate the balance between being protected by and contributing to society. A significant focus has been on the laws that impact their daily lives and the special protections afforded to minors. Students demonstrated great engagement during our interactive sessions, passionately debating real-life scenarios in a mock 'Youth Council' and creatively designing posters that illustrate their rights and responsibilities. This unit has equipped them with the initial tools to see themselves as responsible young citizens.

G7: Navigating the Self and the Family

Moving inwards and outwards simultaneously, our G7 students have embarked on a profound exploration of self-identity and the primary unit of society—the family. Through introspective activities, they have gained valuable insights into their own strengths, values, and emotions. This self-awareness serves as the cornerstone for understanding their roles within the family. They have delved into the dynamics of family relationships, learning to appreciate the depth of parental love and the importance of filial piety. A key practical component has been developing effective parent-child communication skills. In class, students participated with remarkable sincerity in role-playing exercises, skillfully employing 'I-statements' to express feelings and practising active listening. Their thoughtful contributions in group discussions about navigating common family challenges were both mature and insightful.

G8: Engaging with Society as Responsible Individuals

Our G8 cohorts are now stepping into the broader social arena. Their studies centre on the theme "Participating in Social Life", which illuminates the intrinsic link between the individual and society. They are learning about the concept of 'socialisation' and the importance of developing pro-social behaviours. In our digital age, a significant emphasis is placed on the responsible and critical use of the internet. Furthermore, students are examining the social and moral rules that underpin a harmonious community. The students' analytical skills shone during a lively debate on digital citizenship, and they collaborated effectively to create insightful 'Code of Conduct' manifestos for both online and offline settings. This unit prepares them to engage with the world in a thoughtful, ethical, and positive manner.

Whole-School Anti-Bullying Workshop

Beyond the year-group-specific curriculum, we were pleased to deliver a crucial whole-school Anti-Bullying Workshop to all our middle school students. The session was highly interactive, empowering students with practical knowledge and strategies. Through engaging activities and case studies, students learned to clearly identify different forms of bullying behaviour (including physical, verbal, and cyberbullying), understand the profound impact it has on individuals, and recognise the critical role of being a proactive bystander. They practised safe and effective intervention techniques, such as seeking help from a trusted adult and offering support to the target. Most importantly, students reinforced the values of empathy, respect, and the courage to uphold a safe and inclusive school community for everyone.

We are immensely proud of the maturity, reflective thinking, and active participation our students have demonstrated throughout these units and workshops. Please do continue these conversations at home, as your partnership is invaluable to your child's growth.
