Weather Investigation

This week EY3  focused on different weather phenomenon. We were weather forecasters photographing and recording the day’s weather eg ‘sunny’, ‘cloudy’, ‘blue’. We used a thermometer to check the daily temperature and compared it to the previous day’s number.

We found out how clouds were made and experimented with making our own cloud. We learnt about three different types of clouds and then went ‘cloud spotting’. We also used our imaginations to turn cloud shapes into other things.

We were able to name the colours of the rainbow and used candy and other resources to make rainbows as well as sorting objects into their correct rainbow colours.

Through these activities, our EY3 learners have been developing their relationship with the natural environment. They have applied early maths concepts such as sorting, looking for patterns and comparing greater and smaller. They have been developing their ability to enquire, research, explore, generate, and modify their own working theories about the natural world.  And you thought they were only clouds!
