In the second week of the new academic year, our Grade 9 students eagerly returned to campus, well-prepared with their mathematics supplies. As they embark on the IGCSE Mathematics curriculum, they are equipped with scientific calculators, compasses, rulers, protractors, and set squares. The IGCSE mathematics syllabus includes two exam papers, one focusing on students’ ability to perform manual calculations without the aid of a calculator, while the other allows the use of a scientific calculator to solve more complex problems.

The IGCSE course serves as a solid foundation for Cambridge A Level studies, where mathematics holds a pivotal role. Students with a keen interest in mathematics, who enjoy problem solving and wish to pursue university programmes strongly tied to mathematics—such as actuarial science, engineering, and economics—may also consider taking Further Mathematics for advanced learning. Mathematics and Further Mathematics can be treated as two separate subjects for university applications, and most UK universities require three A Level subjects for admission. We hope our students establish a strong foundation in IGCSE mathematics and actively embark on their journey toward mastering Cambridge Mathematics.
