At the beginning of the new school year, students in G11 and G12 have already started their intense study of A-level Mathematics (9709). This course is divided into five parts, which are Pure Numbers 1, Pure Numbers 3, Mechanics, Statistics 1, and Statistics 2. Among them, pure number 1, pure number 3 and statistics 1 are compulsory, and students need to choose one of them in statistics 2 and mechanics. Usually the pure number 1 and statistical 1 are completed in the first year, the so-called AS phase. In the second year, A2 phase, students will complete the remaining two courses.

The Pure Numbers 1 and Pure Numbers 3 papers are worth 75 points each, and the statistics and mechanics papers are both worth 50 points. The total score of the four subjects is 250 points. The G12 students are already on the starting line of the sprint. Especially for the students who will take the exam in October, they have already started intense training using past papers in addition to their daily study. Studying previous exam papers is an effective way to consolidate one’s knowledge and improve test-taking skills. It is important that after completing each set of questions, students should carefully summarise the reasons for the mistakes and the core knowledge points and error-prone points of each chapter and not just memorize questions and answers.
