In a setting of intense and rewarding preparation, our G11 students successfully completed two parts of the A-level 9868 Chinese exam on September 30th and October 9th, respectively. Chinese, as a deeply cherished language and culture course in our school, is not only a compulsory exam subject for every student but also an important platform for them to showcase their language talent and cultural literacy.

Exam Overview

The A-level 9868 Chinese exam, as one of the international standardised tests, aims to comprehensively assess students' Chinese language proficiency and literary literacy. It not only requires students to possess solid foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing but also emphasises a profound understanding and critical analysis of Chinese literary works.

Highlights of the Exam Content

The exam content covered a diverse range of topics, touching on various aspects of modern life from entertainment, identity and culture, art, to health, nutrition, and social equality. This not only stimulated students' multi-angle thinking but also encouraged them to bravely express their personal viewpoints, demonstrating their rich knowledge reserves and keen insights.

In terms of in-depth literary exploration, the exam nurtured students' literary appreciation abilities and critical thinking through in-depth interpretations of classic and modern literary works. Students traveled through the world of words, feeling the emotions and wisdom behind them, further deepening their understanding and love for Chinese literature.

Strict Exam Format and Requirements

The exam was divided into three parts: Paper 1 Reading Comprehension, Paper 2 Writing Expression, and Paper 3 Literary Criticism. Paper 1 tested students' rapid understanding and analytical abilities of various texts (such as articles, blogs, and reports) through multiple-choice and matching questions. Paper 2 consisted of two writing tasks, aiming to comprehensively assess students' language organization skills, logical thinking, and creative expression. Paper 3 required students to select one of two literary works for in-depth analysis, demonstrating their profound understanding of the work's themes, characters, structures, and other aspects.

The learning of the A-level 9868 Chinese exam is not only a comprehensive test of students' language abilities but also an important milestone in their cultural journey. We look forward to them continuing to carry forward the spirit of Chinese language and culture in their future studies and life, contributing their strength to the diverse cultural exchanges of the world.
