Fostering a love for reading is essential, and sharing that passion further strengthens it. When students express their enthusiasm for books and stories, they inspire their peers to explore more in reading. This creates a more vibrant community of readers who support one another to explore more in their literary journeys.
Every year, on 23 April, UNESCO celebrates World Book and Copyright Day to recognise the power of books as a bridge between generations and across culture. This year, Fettes College Guangzhou students celebrate the World Book and Copyright Day to plant a seed of love for reading that will sprout amongst our students and across cultures. Our theme for this year is: A different kind of friendship, courage and growth!
This year’s celebration was mainly proposed by our students, Grade 4 Carina and G1 Emilia. Their enthusiasm towards Nezha brought a reading among our students.
G4 Derek helped spread the wave by giving our students a story-telling session on the picture book “ Nezha Nao Hai”.
G1 Liya helped push the wave to the peak by sharing more books and related crafts on Nezha-Aobing.
All through April to early May, our primary students were very engaged and enjoyed our library activities.
We celebrated by
Sharing true stories between me and Nezha-Aobing by Carina and Emilia

This series of celebrations were purely student-led, and our students’ creativity and passion have immensely inspired their peers to embark on a wonderful literary journey, enriching our community culture, but also empowering every student to explore the world through books.
