The information technology curriculum at FCG Primary School focuses on data, algorithms, networks, information processing, information security and artificial intelligence. It aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles of information technology. In our classrooms, we employ an authentic learning approach, guiding students to personally experience the complete process of information acquisition, processing, and application through real-world projects or problems. By immersing students in authentic contexts, their computational thinking and problem-solving abilities are honed, while also stimulating their boundless imagination to create innovative digital products.
Technology is integrated in UOI as a tool. In the G4 Unit of Inquiry "Where We Are in Place and Time," we focus on using technology responsibly. Students were required of creating portraits of Elon Musk using artificial intelligence generated content technology. After that, they learned about the abilities and limitations of artificial intelligence. They also developed important skills in evaluating the pros and cons of using technology responsibly.
Data is a valuable resource in today's society, distinct from natural features like mountains, oceans, forests, and minerals, as it is entirely created by human intellect. We are building a new data landscape where data and intelligent entities play essential roles.
At FCG Primary School, our Primary ICT classes focus on combining theory with practical application. Students develop a strong understanding of the digital world through activities involving hardware and software. The curriculum emphasises the significant influence of information technology on society, helping students recognise the immense changes technology has brought and the endless possibilities it holds for the future.
