As the academic year draws to a close, we are delighted to showcase the achievements and accomplishments of our students in their musical journey. The violin programme at FCG has become a shining jewel in our educational system, deeply etched in the hearts of our children as a musical sanctuary they aspire to. From G1 to G4, we maintain our commitment to compulsory instrument learning, aiming to lay a solid foundation for our children's musical odyssey.
Our violin curriculum is designed with three core modules, aimed at guiding children towards comprehensive and in-depth musical development.
Music Appreciation Module
We are dedicated to cultivating children's musical perception and appreciation skills. During class intervals, students immerse themselves in high-quality musical works, experiencing the unique charm of violin music, thereby igniting an infinite love and pursuit of music.
This module adopts a teaching approach that harmonises Eastern and Western methods, ensuring that children master violin playing techniques in a rigorous yet creative environment. Through systematic training, students not only master correct playing postures, bowing, and fingering techniques but also learn to interpret various styles of musical works, showcasing their musical talent and potential.
Ms Susan's innovative 'Rainbow String’ method has brought a novel learning experience to lower-grade students. This approach not only makes the note-reading process lively and interesting but also significantly enhances children's note-reading ability, allowing them to learn joyfully and effortlessly grasp music theory knowledge.
FCG's violin programme not only emphasises skill instruction but also focuses on fostering teamwork and problem-solving abilities. The peer learning model in the classroom allows children to grow together through mutual encouragement, perfectly combining theory and practice, achieving remarkable results.
At the recent summer concert, our students won enthusiastic applause and acclaim from the audience with their good violin playing skills and musical literacy. They performed stylistically diverse pieces such as "Hokey Pokey," "The Grand Old Duke of York," "Descendants of the Dragon," "Ode to Joy," as well as the ensemble performance of "We Will Rock You," fully demonstrating their musical talent and team spirit.
To further broaden our students' musical horizons and enrich their musical experiences, FCG plans to introduce Junior Violin Ensemble and Orchestra CCA courses next semester. These new courses will provide students with more platforms to showcase their talents, allowing them to immerse themselves in the ocean of music and experience its infinite charm.
We firmly believe that in the coming academic year, our students will continue to explore and advance on their musical journey. Let us join hands to build our children's musical dreams and pave an even more brilliant path for their future!
