As the school's knowledge centre and learning support hub, the library is not only a place for acquiring knowledge but also an essential support point for students' overall development. We provide students with plenty of resources, flexible learning spaces, and targeted activities and are committed to helping students develop their key skills, such as communication, social interaction, self-management, research, and critical thinking. This semester, we have launched a series of new activities and projects to further enhance students' learning experiences and ability development.

In October, in order to celebrate the arrival of the International Cultural Festival, we organised a month-long bookend decoration activity. By using paints and a variety of other materials, students made these ordinary bookends into colourful creations that showcased their creativity and passion. On the day of the International Cultural Festival, we displayed these unique bookends at a book fair, attracting many teachers and students. These bookends not only added colour to the festival but also provided a platform for students to show themselves.

In November, we initiated a 1000-page reading challenge for our students, hoping to spark their interest in reading and improve their reading skills. This challenge is to encourage students to read at least 1000 pages of books covering a variety of topics and genres. Students who complete the challenge not only earn corresponding house points but also receive some secret gifts.

The goal of a thousand pages is neither too much nor too little, and it can be served as a motivating target. For students who love to read, this challenge can be an enjoyable journey, while for those who are not used to reading, it may require extra effort. Regardless of the outcome, what matters most is not the number of pages, but the knowledge and thought gained from reading.

In addition to these activities, we are also involved in the Grade 8 community programme, working with them to transform and optimise our library. The students actively participated in designing and implementing plans, and came up with some ideas for innovation and improvement. For example, concerning the promotion of library activities, they suggested that we could make good use of the daily tutor time to announce upcoming events in each grade and class. The 1000-page reading challenge is one of the projects they are promoting for the library.

Although the community project is still in progress, through this cooperation, the connection between students and the library will gradually strengthen. At the same time, in the process of improving the library, they can also feel their contribution and responsibility to the whole community, gain a different learning experience, and inject new vitality into our library.
